Visual RPG provides an intuitive and easy to understand GUI interface. ASNA Visual RPG incorporates Custom Controls from Visual Basic and other third party developers to easily develop pictures, graphs, messaging, communications and even multimedia support. User interactions such as mouse clicks and keyboard commands are supported simply by writing RPG subroutines corresponding to those events. This is event-driven programming where, led by the framework of ASNA Visual RPG, the developer need only concentrate on the logic of these RPG subroutines.

With ASNA Visual RPG, developers not only retain existing programming skills, but they may also import and re-use existing RPG/400 code. Programs can be developed and executed stand-alone on a PC. No server is required.

ASNA Visual RPG provides both a fixed format editor and free format editor. The Visual RPG language provides the familiar RPG language plus extensions such as unlimited field name size, global and local variables, multidimensional arrays, expressions and much more.

ASNA Visual RPG provides a 32-bit development environment. Applications can be developed in Windows 95 or Windows NT Client and may be executed on any Windows platform including Windows 98, Windows NT, and Windows 2000.

It enables you to create Windows EXEs to be run as clients to AS/400s or Windows NT Servers or you may run your applications on stand-alone PCs. Communicating to your host is simple and transparent using ASNA Acceler8DB and DataGate/400.

ASNA Visual RPG applications support TCP/IP protocols for access to data on servers. Applications may run in your network of choice: Ethernet or Token Ring using SNA, Novell, or NT. Client/Access, Netsoft and Rumba are all supported routers.

ASNA Visual RPG is Internet aware. Visual RPG programs can access the server across the Internet.

ASNA Visual RPG's Interactive IDE (Integrated Development Environment) includes

bulletForm Editor providing the controls to create GUI applications in Microsoft Windows
bulletASNA supplied controls  (Visual Basic Custom Controls) support are incorporated into ASNA Visual RPG. Numerous controls are available today that can be included into ASNA Visual RPG applications
bulletBoth Fixed and Free Format Editor Views are provided with the ability to use either view.
bulletWhat is the learning curve before becoming proficient with ASNA Visual RPG?
Because ASNA Visual RPG incorporates the familiar RPG language and terminology, a programmer can begin developing applications right away. Further, the database is the same as on the AS/400, so there are no new database concepts to learn.
